AGM Review 2011
On March 8th around 60 members
attended the 11th AGM of ChesterDFAS which took place this year in the
historic setting of St. Mary's Centre, Chester.
For
this important date in our annual calendar
Kathy Bowen and Marie Knowles ensured that the venue was decorated with
excellent noticeboard displays of the events of the past 12
months, our Heritage Volunteer activities and our exciting programme of
Young Arts sponsorship.... all lively indicators of our growing, vibrant
society.
The AGM was also an opportunity
for a relaxed social get-together in a warm, comfortable venue.
A delicious buffet with wine was offered by the Committee and,
following the official business of the evening we were treated to a
virtual guided tour of The British Museum....a truly world class "
cabinet of curiosities"!!
Our
former President, Lady Kirsty Pilkington presided over the AGM
elections, and in her address
she congratulated Dorothy on her most successful tenure as
Society Chairman for the past three years. As Dorothy now stands down
from office she was also thanked for all her hard work
by Cynthia Collier on behalf of the membership and there was a
heartfelt round of applause.
The
meeting was drawn to a conclusion by our incoming chairman, Linda Hill
who spoke of her enthusiasm to take the Society forward in the coming
years of challenge and change.
At the end of a most enjoyable evening various members were heard to say they will soon be heading down to the British Museum themselves to make the virtual tour a reality !!
