Rubens: A Master in the Making
Lecturer: Lois Oliver
Diplomat, scholar, art collector, businessman and fluent in five languages, Peter Paul Rubens was also, by the age of about 35, the most successful international artist of his time. We will trace his astonishing development over the first fifteen years of his career, during which he transformed himself from an awkward northern painter into an artist whose work was sought after by courts all over Europe, earning the epithet 'painter of princes, prince of painters'.
